Our photo team removes the background, balances the lighting, sharpens facial detail, and prepares the image for engraving. We then engrave the image into the octagonal optical-crystal pendant using a precision laser. The pendant attaches to the polished chrome bail and split-ring loop at our Las Vegas studio. What photo works best for the keychain Because the keychain pendant is small (~1.1" wide), the photo needs to read clearly at that scale. Single-subject portraits are the sweet spot — one person, one pet, or one couple with both faces close. The keychain handles 2-subject portraits well; 3+ subjects start to get cramped. The octagon shape works especially well with portraits oriented as headshots rather than full-body shots. Choose a well-lit, clear photo where the eyes are visible and the face takes up most of the frame. Avoid full-body shots, group photos, very dark photos, and heavy filters. Keychain care The optical crystal pendant is durable but the engraving inside is what makes the keychain special — treat it accordingly. The polished chrome bail and split-ring loop are built for years of pocket and bag wear. To clean the crystal pendant, use a soft cloth with a small amount of glass cleaner. Wipe down the chrome assembly with the same cloth. Avoid extreme heat (don't leave the keychain in a hot car for days), harsh chemicals, and submerging the keychain in water. With normal daily-carry use, the keychain looks the same after years as on the day it shipped. Production and shipping Standard production takes 5–7 business days. International shipping calculated at checkout to most countries. Frequently asked questions How big is the octagon pendant? Approximately 1.1" across the widest dimension, with 0.25" thickness. The chrome bail adds another ~1.5" of height. Total assembly is about 2.5–3" tall. Can I engrave a group photo? The keychain is best with 1–2 subjects. Group photos with more than 2 people will engrave but the faces will be small. Will the engraving wear off? No. The engraving is inside the crystal — it cannot scratch off, fade, or peel even with years of daily carry. Is the bail real silver? The bail is polished chrome-plated stainless steel — built for daily wear and tarnish-resistant. Real silver would tarnish quickly with pocket exposure. Can I order a matching keychain for myself and my partner? Absolutely — many of our keychain orders are pairs with the same photo (or each person's photo on the other's keychain).
